words
of Assembler, son of David, king in Jerusalem:
Vanity
of vanities, says Assembler; Vanity of vanities, the whole vanity.
What
advantage has human in all his toil Which he toils under the sun?
generation
goes, and generation comes,
Yet
the earth standing for eon.
The
sun rises, and the sun sets
And
gasps to its place,
it
rise there.
Going
to south and (?)ing around to north, Around around the wind going, Yet on its courses the wind returns.
All
the watercourses flowing to the sea, Yet is no filling the sea; To place which
the watercourses flowing, There they returning to go.
All
the words weary;
man
cannot utter.
eye
is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor
is ear filled with hearing.
What
occurred, it shall occur,
And
what was done, it shall be done.
is
no all new under the sun.
Is
thing which may say: See this, it new?
It
has already occurred
In
eons that were before us.
is
no remembrance of formers,
And
also for who shall come after, remembrance of them shall not continue With who
shall come after.
I
my, Assembler, came be king over Israel in Jerusalem.
I
applied my heart to inquiring and exploring by wisdom concerning all that is
done under the heavens: It experience of evil Elohim has given to the sons of
humanity to humble by it.
I
saw all the deeds that are done under the sun, And behold, the whole vanity and
grazing wind.
distorted
cannot set in order,
And
lacking cannot be counted.
I
spoke with my heart, saying,
Behold,
I have grown great and have added wisdom Over all who were over Jerusalem
before me; My heart has seen much wisdom and knowledge.
Then
I applied my heart to know wisdom,
As
know raving and frivolity;
I
realize that even this, it grazing wind.
For
in much wisdom much vexation,
And
he adds knowledge adds pain.
